Ames Prentiss is a graduate of University of Colorado, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. After graduation, Mr. Prentiss worked for Mellon Financial as a Trust Specialist and oversaw the investment of short-term monies for institutional accounts. The son of IVG’s founder, Dr. John Prentiss, Ames grew up in the veterinary industry where he was exposed to both small and large animal practice and learned about the commitment and dedication necessary to meet client and patient needs.
He was asked to join IVG Hospitals in the New England region in 1996 with the goal of building a 24/7 emergency hospital in an existing general practice. To enhance the success of this emergency hospital, Ames oversaw the recruitment of the first specialist into IVG in 1998; that specialist is still an active and successful veterinary ophthalmologist at IVG. In 2000, he was tasked with building a de novo referral hospital in Woburn, MA. In the 15 years since its inception, Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital has grown into one of the top five largest veterinary hospitals in the U.S. as measured by total revenue. From 2008-2011, Ames help guide the creation of IVG’s 3rd and 4th hospitals, respectively located in Portsmouth, NH and Natick, MA. More recently, Ames has been focused on regional M&A opportunities, allowing IVG to expand its market footprint in the northeast. Mr. Prentiss also served as the inaugural president of MOON, an innovative veterinary collaborative, where he helped change how the profession collaborates and shares information.
As the CEO and leader of Ethos, Mr. Prentiss is committed to building a unique veterinary referral hospital company providing unsurpassed veterinary healthcare.
