Ethos Veterinary Health is honoring Juneteenth by raising awareness of the lack of diversity in the veterinary field, with the goal of achieving change. We are all better and stronger when we have diverse opinions and diverse thoughts.

Ethos and VetBloom are leading a series of initiatives aimed at addressing racial disparities in veterinary medicine, including a commitment of $500,000 to educational programs. A significant portion of the funds will go for diversity scholarships to Purdue’s Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning (VNDL) program.

Three new purpose-built clinics Veterinary Urgent Care Clinics will be located in San Diego in Rancho Peñasquitos, Oceanside, and Irvine in Orange County.

Ethos Veterinary Health has taken action to promote sustainability by launching the Ethos Environmental Social Responsibility Program to develop national programs that target environment friendly process improvements across the enterprise.

Ethos Veterinary Health is making a $50,000 donation to the AVMF to support veterinary teams and animal-welfare groups in Ukraine that are providing care to animals affected by the crisis.

“We’ve made a lot of progress, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Women have fewer role models at the highest levels, making it difficult for them to get inspired and feel like those roles are attainable. Mentoring and coaching are an important aspect to shape the future of women in work, and we need more women to get involved, to help young women achieve the goals they’ve always hoped and dreamed they could, ” Firestine said.

We, within the executive team at Ethos, were struck by what was going on in society. We quickly realized that this societal racism problem was not so far away from us in veterinary medicine. As a result, we began thinking we should do something to address the problem in our own backyard.
