Building a Career and Community at Valley Veterinary Emergency Referral Center

June 15, 2026

For more than 25 years, Valley Veterinary Emergency Referral Center (VVERC), an Ethos network hospital, has been a trusted name in emergency veterinary care. Located in Winchester, Virginia, VVERC combines a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence with a modern practice environment designed to support both patients and the professionals who care for them.

The hospital’s newly renovated facility features a bright, modern workspace equipped with a full surgical suite, advanced patient monitoring, diagnostic ultrasound, endoscopy, therapeutic laser technology, Heska cytology, and ezyVet software. These resources support efficient workflows and allow you to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

Practicing Emergency Medicine with a Collaborative Team

Emergency & specialty medicine relies on strong collaboration, which is central to how VVERC operates. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, assistants, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care in an emergency and specialty medicine setting.

Questions are encouraged, knowledge is shared freely, and team members are supported by colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together. Whether managing complex cases or navigating a busy shift, you’ll have opportunities to consult with colleagues and contribute your clinical expertise.

Support for Continued Development

VVERC supports ongoing development for clinicians practicing emergency and specialty medicine. You’ll have access to continuing education, wet labs, and hands-on training designed to build practical skills and expand your clinical knowledge.

This is supported by leadership that prioritizes education and mentorship across the team.

Beyond the clinical setting, VVERC creates opportunities for team members to connect across the hospital. Creative team-building activities and “get to know each other” games organized by the hospital’s Culture Ambassador help foster relationships across the hospital and contribute to a welcoming, engaging workplace.

Life in Winchester, Virginia

Mountains, rivers, history, and small-town charm make Winchester an appealing place to build both a career and a life. Residents enjoy all four seasons, access to outdoor recreation, local wineries, and a vibrant downtown walking mall filled with restaurants, shops, and live entertainment.

Join the Team

VVERC is currently seeking Emergency Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses who are passionate about patient care and collaborative medicine.

If you’re looking to practice emergency and specialty medicine in a well-equipped hospital with a supportive team culture, opportunities for continued development, and a community that offers an exceptional quality of life, VVERC provides a place to build a meaningful and rewarding career.
