Finding Confidence in Emergency Medicine: Dr. Truc Vu’s ER Immerse Experience

July 20, 2026

The ER Immerse program at Ethos Veterinary Health is designed to support veterinarians who are new to emergency medicine. The program combines hands-on clinical experience with mentorship and dedicated learning opportunities.

Why Dr. Truc Vu Chose ER Immerse

“I chose Ethos because of the ER Immerse program,” shared Dr. Truc Vu, an emergency veterinarian at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough, NJ.

Dr. Vu was looking for an environment where she could continue developing as a clinician while still having guidance when it mattered most.

“I like that I have medical autonomy, with primary case responsibility, while still having intentional, structured mentorship and support when I need it.”

This balance allows doctors like Dr. Vu to stay actively involved in patient care while learning alongside experienced ER clinicians.

Hear directly from Dr. Vu about her experience:

How ER Immerse Supports Growth in Emergency Medicine

Through ER Immerse, participants benefit from:

  • In-hospital mentorship alongside experienced emergency clinicians
  • On-site training for your long-term employment (some sites partner with training hubs)
  • Competitive salary and benefits during the training period
  • A national competency-based curriculum designed to build core emergency medicine skills
  • Access to more than 40 veterinary journals, 450+ electronic textbooks, and customized online learning through VetBloom, our learning ecosystem built to support your professional growth
  • Dedicated time for live didactic rounds, clinical discussions, and continuing education
  • Employment opportunities across more than 30 participating emergency and specialty hospitals throughout the U.S.

Dedicated didactic rounds are also built into the program, creating consistent opportunities to expand clinical knowledge through real-world cases.

Real Experience, Real Growth

During her first six months in ER Immerse, Dr. Vu gained extensive hands-on experience treating emergency patients and building procedural skills. Just as important, she says, has been the confidence she’s gained along the way.

“I feel more comfortable now than I did six months ago. I’m still learning, but it’s a strong foundation to build on.”

A Strong Fit for Early Career Veterinarians

Dr. Vu recommends the program to veterinarians early in their careers who are interested in emergency medicine.

“It’s a great fit for new grads who want support and autonomy at the same time.”

Hospitals across the Ethos network hire on a rolling basis based on their individual needs. Select 2026 opportunities are still available, and 2027 openings will be posted soon. View current openings to find a program that aligns with your goals, or connect with our team to learn more.
