Exploring What’s Next in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
July 2, 2026Innovation in veterinary medicine isn’t just about adopting new technology. It’s about finding better ways to support patients, clinicians, and care teams.
For Jennifer Brisson, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Ethos Veterinary Health, that mindset has shaped an entire career.
From developing radiographs in a darkroom early in her career to helping evaluate emerging technologies today, Dr. Brisson has spent her career focused on one question: How can diagnostic imaging continue to evolve to better support patient care?
Leading the Future of Diagnostic Imaging
As Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Dr. Brisson helps guide imaging strategy across the Ethos network by supporting equipment decisions, training initiatives, radiologist recruitment and clinical excellence.
Her impact extends beyond Ethos. Dr. Brisson serves on multiple professional committees focused on the advancement of veterinary radiology and artificial intelligence and is chairing the 2026 American College of Veterinary Radiology Annual Meeting. Through these leadership roles, she remains actively engaged in conversations shaping the future of the specialty.
In addition to her leadership responsibilities, she continues to practice clinical radiology, maintaining a direct connection to the challenges and opportunities facing veterinary teams every day.
Innovation with Purpose
As new technologies emerge, Dr. Brisson focuses on how they can be effectively integrated into veterinary practice.
For Dr. Brisson, innovation is about identifying tools that will support veterinary professionals. enhance clinical workflows and improve efficiency while maintaining the high standards of care patients deserve.
“If you’re not considering there could be a better way, you’re already falling behind,” says Dr. Brisson. “Technology will continue to evolve, and veterinary medicine has an opportunity to evolve alongside it.”
Advancing Veterinary Education
In collaboration with colleagues across Clinical Learning & Development, Dr. Brisson helped develop a competency-based framework designed to support diagnostic imaging residency training.
The framework has been presented at national specialty and educational meetings and provides a more structured approach to assessing and developing skills while supporting the next generation of veterinary radiologists.
Supporting Veterinary Teams Through Innovation
For veterinary professionals, new technologies may help support faster access to information, enhance clinical decision-making, reduce administrative burden, and create additional opportunities for learning and collaboration. At the same time, thoughtful evaluation and real-world testing remain critical to understanding how these tools can best support teams in practice.
That balance of innovation and clinical expertise is what drives Dr. Brisson’s work. As veterinary medicine continues to evolve, leaders like Dr. Brisson are helping ensure new ideas are explored thoughtfully, always with a focus on supporting clinicians, strengthening teams, and improving patient care.
