Fostering a Culture of Connection and Engagement at Ethos

November 13, 2024

At Ethos, we believe that a strong company culture is more than just a buzzword—it’s the foundation of how we work together, support each other, and grow as a community. Over the years, the idea of company culture has evolved. Today, it’s about creating meaningful connections, fostering trust, and ensuring every team member feels valued. We’re proud to say that culture is at the heart of everything we do at Ethos, from our hospitals to our Support Center teams.

A Look Back: The Evolution of Culture at Work

The concept of “company culture” didn’t start gaining serious attention until the 1980s. Before that, workplaces were often driven by efficiency and control, treating employees like cogs in a machine. As time went on, leaders began to understand the importance of employee well-being and realized that a positive work environment leads to happier, more productive teams.

Today, company culture has shifted even further. It’s no longer just about employee happiness, it’s about engagement, belonging, and creating a workplace where every individual thrives. At Ethos, we embrace this approach to culture, ensuring that each person feels connected, supported, and empowered to succeed.

The Culture Ambassador Program: Building Culture Across Our Hospitals

In early 2024 we launched the Culture Ambassador Program with the goal of creating a more inclusive, supportive environment across our hospitals. The program empowers culture ambassadors at each of our hospitals to lead culture-building activities.

Each ambassador is tasked with promoting culture in creative ways, whether it’s through daily team huddles, wellness challenges, or a fun activity that promote unity. The results so far have been positive, with hospitals reporting higher morale, stronger engagement, and better teamwork.

Support Center Teams: Creating Connections, Virtually and Beyond

Support Center teams have fully embraced a vibrant virtual culture. Through virtual chat sessions, trivia games, and online escape rooms, colleagues from various departments have discovered innovative ways to connect and strengthen their relationships. We actively create opportunities for casual interactions, allowing team members to share their hobbies and passions outside of work. These initiatives foster a sense of community and enhance collaboration within the team.

Why Culture Matters at Ethos

At Ethos, we understand that a strong culture is key to success. It helps us attract top talent, fosters collaboration, and makes us a company people are proud to be a part of. As we continue to grow and evolve, our commitment to building a positive, inclusive culture remains at the forefront of everything we do. We’re continually working to ensure that every team member feels valued, connected, and engaged.
