Are you an experienced emergency doctor ready to advance your career? Achieve Board certification through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) with our flexible non-residency path to diplomate status. This program offers two tailored options that meet you where you are, allowing you to reach your emergency career goals without the need for an internship. Ideal for all emergency practitioners looking to deepen their expertise in emergency practice, these paths let you stay in your current hospital, enjoying full wages and benefits while pursuing board certification.
ER ABVP Guided
The ER ABVP Guided program is tailored for individuals seeking structured guidance to achieve board certification as a generalist, especially those who have recently completed an internship or the ER Immerse program. Starting annually in December, this 36-month program combines elements of residency and autonomous learning, integrating both synchronous and asynchronous components with case-related writing assignments. A significant portion of the ER Immerse program’s coursework will count towards the Guided program’s requirements. Upon completion, candidates can apply for credentialing and, if approved by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, take the board exam for ABVP Canine and Feline Practice Diplomate status.
ER ABVP Self-Paced
The ER ABVP Self-Paced path to board certification is a unique program in the veterinary field, designed for seasoned ER vets who are at least two and a half years post-graduation. This flexible, autonomous program provides the resources, mentorship, and support necessary for experienced DVMs to achieve Board Certification in Canine and Feline Practice through the AVMA-recognized American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. It aims to enhance patient and client care while offering opportunities for professional publication.
