Top 6 Tear-jerking & Heart Warming Dog Movies

Two corgis on couch with cat happy and smiling

Have you exhausted your resources of reality TV, binged through addicting shows, and gone through your list of rainy day movies? We feel you. Two things that everyone can get behind these days are watching tv, and spending time with your pet, so why not watch a movie about a pet…with your pet? (Please keep in mind we are not liable for any dogs jumping at a dog they see on screen. We recommend securing TV’s)

So grab your (and your pet’s!) favorite snacks, and pick out a movie!

Movies That Won’t Make You (Sad) Cry

Air Bud

You may not sad cry, but you sure might happy cry (this is a theme in this category), at this Golden Retriever who is insanely good at basketball. If you haven’t seen it yet, this is a perfect movie to watch with your pet while you pass the time!

Snack Pairing: Pudding (You’ll see why)

Where to Watch: Amazon Prime

Homeward BounD

I know we all have different ways we communicate with our dogs, but what if you could actually hear what they have to say? You may think it would be a lot of “Food? Treat? Dinner?”, but Homeward Bound shows you it could be much more than that!

Snack Pairing: Popcorn, honestly, this movie is a classic, so why not?

Where to Watch: Disney Plus

A Dog’s Way Home

If you’ve watched this, chances are you have happy cried (there’s that theme again!). This story of a doggo finding her way home to her one person will bring you on a wild ride as she meets amazing friends and characters who help her along the way!

Snack Pairing: Trail Mix, what every long journey calls for!

Where to Watch: Hulu

3 Movies That Might Make You Cry

Marley and Me

We are sorry, but there’s no way Marley and Me can’t make this list! Live through Marley’s life from destructive pup to caring and loving dog while also following how his owner’s lives change in this sad, happy, funny, amazing story, and don’t blame us for the tears that may come!

Snack Pairing: Ice Cream (it’s okay to indulge yourself…you’re going to need it)

Where to Watch: Amazon Prime

A Dog’s Purpose

From the same movie family as A Dog’s Way Home, this story goes through just how awesome dogs really are (as if we didn’t know already!). This story follows multiple dogs in multiple lives, and yes, you guessed it, it’s a tear jerker.

Snack Pairing: Nachos (this is an emotional rollercoaster, so you’ll need a snack to keep you happy)

Where to Watch: Amazon Prime

The Art of Racing in the Rain

This great book, turned into a movie, shows off the friendship between a dog (Enzo), and Denny, his racecar driving owner. Without giving anything away, this movie will leave you slightly sad, hopeful, and definitely thankful for your loving pet.

Snack Pairing: Pizza (as you can tell…you’ll need some junk food for these movies)

Where to Watch: Amazon Prime

No matter which movie you choose to watch with your pet, all will leave you feeling even more happy that you have your furry family member with you! Grab some popcorn, set up a comfy space for you and your pet, and have fun during  your movie night!
