Our Blogs

Philanthropy in our Free Time

Many of our employees generously devote their time and effort to help causes that have touched their lives. We are so proud of the many members of the Ethos team in the east who do good, every day, inside and outside of work. Here is a short list of a few of the current, ongoing activities that our crew are working with on a local, national and global level.

Running for a Cause

I am running the Boston Marathon in April to benefit a domestic violence organization, Casa Myrna. They currently operate 3 shelters, soon to be 4! Please help support my run by donating here! – Dr. Danielle Thomas, DVM, DACVECC.

Book Drive for Nicaragua

I am working on a book drive for donated, used veterinary textbooks in support of World Vets. It is a great chance for veterinarians to clean out their work space and put old books to good use in areas of the world that need it. We sent the first shipment this year which will be shared with colleagues in Nicaragua. – Dr. Jennifer Brisson, DVM, DACVR.

Helping Indigenous Communities

I am the founder of Jungle Hearts where our mission is to empowers indigenous communities in the amazon rain forest through health care, education, and eco-tourism. Last year we went down and painted the schools and fixed the bathrooms that had become severely damaged during a violent storm, so the students would not have to go into the forest to go to the bathroom. We have provided funding to purchase much needed medication for when our physician goes down to do a free health clinic. No member from the community has to pay for their medical care or medications. This is just a small part of what we do. We are a small group, but our hearts and efforts to raise money to support indigenous communities is large.  – Nancy Thompson, CVT.

Researching Sharks

I currently volunteer with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy based in Cape Cod, MA. Their mission is to support scientific research, improve public safety, and educate the community to inspire conservation of Atlantic White Sharks. This year will be the 4th year of a 5-year population study led by biologist, Dr. Greg Skomal, from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries. Since 2009, 100 white sharks have been tagged and since 2014 over 200 white sharks have been identified as individuals. – Megan Burt, AAS, BS.

These are just a few of the great causes some of our team members are involved in. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and contribute to their efforts.
