Karen A. Belden

DVMPrimary Care & Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Karen A. Belden received her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She joined InTown Veterinary Group in 1991 as a companion animal practitioner (equine and small animal).  She ended her involvement with the horse practice in 2000 as the emergency practice and small animal medicine and surgery increasingly demanded more of her time. Dr. Belden has completed advanced certification in ASIF surgical implantation and enjoys surgery both soft tissue as well as orthopedics.  A true general practitioner Karen is involved with Bulger’s emergency practice, general practice, and surgery.   In 2004 Karen became medical director while continuing to provide veterinary services. In 2010 she opted to step down from that role to concentrate on growing Bulger’s theriogenology (reproduction) department.

Bulger now offers a comprehensive service for breeders and other clients from insemination through healthy birth of kittens and puppies with many state of the art equipment & treatment options available (laparoscopy, ultrasound, artificial insemination, estrus induction).

Society for Theriogenology

Veterinarians actively involved in the Society For Theriogenology are dedicated to animal reproduction. While all species of animals are included, here at Bulger Veterinary Hospital we concentrate on canine and feline reproduction.

The mission of the Society For Theriogenology includes the establishment and promotion of standards of excellence amongst veterinarians, animal scientists, academicians and students in reproduction; providing a variety of forums to disseminate emerging information to veterinarians. The society also serves as a global resource for scientific exchange fostering client education and encouraging a network for collegial exchange.

Dr Karen A. Belden is an active member of the Society for Theriogenology. She has attended many of the annual meetings where she has learned many advanced techniques, including

  • Single port laprascopic ovarohysterectomy/ovarectomy
  • Transcervical insemination
  • Current standards of care for canine and feline patients.
