Unlocking Potential: How Ethos Elevates Veterinary Nursing

October 17, 2025

Ask Chrissy Giovannielli, Director of Nursing at Ethos, what excites her most about the profession, and she’ll tell you without hesitation: “Veterinary nurses and assistants aren’t just supporting care — they’re delivering it.”

It’s a belief that guides her leadership and reflects Ethos’ culture: veterinary nursing professionals are trusted medical team members, educators, leaders, and collaborators whose growth is essential to the future of veterinary medicine.

Turning Frustration Into Fulfillment

Chrissy has heard it countless times: veterinary nurses feel underutilized or unsure where their careers can go. Her mission is to flip that narrative. “When veterinary nurses are empowered to work at the top of their training, everything changes — patient care improves, job satisfaction soars, and teams thrive,” she says.

That’s why Ethos is reshaping how veterinary nursing teams grow. Instead of one-size-fits-all career ladders, Chrissy and her team are building flexible pathways that support professionals from their first shift through advanced credentials and leadership roles. It’s not about checking boxes; it’s about unlocking potential.

A Culture of Connection and Recognition

For Chrissy, what sets Ethos apart isn’t just programs — it’s people. Veterinary nursing leaders across the country are linked together, sharing ideas and leaning on one another in ways that strengthen the whole community. Mentorship and recognition aren’t afterthoughts but built into the organization’s fabric.

“At Ethos, our veterinary nursing teams aren’t just numbers,” she says. “They’re medical professionals with a voice. They help shape the way we practice medicine, and we celebrate them for it.”

Awards like the Veterinary Nurse Champion Award and the Veterinary Assistant Champion Award highlight those making a difference every day. And behind the recognition is a bigger message: veterinary nursing is not a stepping stone — it’s a fulfilling career.

Why Chrissy Chose Ethos

Like many veterinary professionals, Chrissy’s journey started with a love for animals. But it was a summer spent binge-watching Emergency Vets that sealed the deal and set her on the path to becoming a veterinary nurse.

She was drawn to Ethos by its mission to revolutionize veterinary medicine and by the respect shown to veterinary nursing teams. “I was inspired by leaders who not only value clinical excellence, but also give veterinary nurses a seat at the table to help drive change across the organization,” she recalls.

That passion extends beyond Ethos. Chrissy serves on committees and task forces with NAVTA, NJVTA, and AAVSB, working to advance utilization, task protection, and professional recognition. “Elevating veterinary nursing is what motivates me every day,” she says. “I’m excited for a future with clearly defined responsibilities, growth tracks, and supportive structures that enable fulfilling, lifelong careers.”

Outside of Work

Chrissy describes herself as a “collector of hobbies.” Over the years she’s dabbled in photography, tutu-making, and jewelry design — and her current obsession is crocheting. At home, she and her family share life with a lively crew of pets: Walnut (Wally) and Hazelnut (Hazel) the dogs, Pierogi and Coconut the cats, and Berry the guinea pig. “Somehow, all of our pets ended up with food names,” she laughs.

Why Ethos?

Chrissy believes veterinary nurses and assistants deserve more than a job — they deserve a community that invests in their growth and well-being. “Whether you’re just starting out, ready to step into leadership, or pursuing a VTS, there’s a place for you here,” she says. “And we’ll help you find it.”

At Ethos, veterinary nurses and assistants are shaping the future of medicine.
