Helping Clinicians Navigate the Process of Launching New Services Through Innovative Collaboration

When a talented specialist is given the opportunity — and support — to build something new, great things happen. That’s exactly what unfolded at Westbridge Veterinary Referral Hospital (WVRH), formerly New England Animal Medical Center, where a new internal medicine service has just launched.
This milestone is more than just a service expansion. It reflects Ethos Veterinary Health’s commitment to mentorship, clinician-led growth, and creative collaboration across our hospitals and specialty teams.
Rather than taking a traditional approach to recruitment, hospital leadership at WVRH partnered with Ethos’ Talent Team and the Specialty Advisory Board (SAB) to craft a pathway that aligned with both the hospital’s needs and the candidate’s long-term goals.
Through this model, board-certified specialists from the SAB offer peer-to-peer insights and mentorship to candidates interested in building or expanding services. In this case, Dr. Todd Carter, DACVIM, SAB Internal Medicine Learning and Development Partner, provided personalized guidance and support, helping the candidate explore the full scope of launching a new service and the resources available across Ethos.
