Ethos Expands Radiation Oncology Access
November 18, 2025Across Ethos Veterinary Health, teams are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in cancer care, translating innovation into hope for pets and the people who love them. That hope is growing stronger than ever as hospitals expand access to advanced oncology services that are transforming the landscape of pet cancer care.
Advancing Access to Lifesaving Treatments
Cancer remains one of the most common and challenging diagnoses faced by pets and their families. Through cutting-edge technology and compassionate expertise, Ethos Veterinary Health is expanding access to the full spectrum of cancer treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
Recently, two Ethos hospitals, Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Nashville Veterinary Specialists (NVS) in Tennessee, have launched new Radiation Oncology programs. These advanced services utilize linear accelerator (LINAC) technology to deliver highly targeted radiation, enabling specialists to treat tumors more precisely while minimizing side effects and preserving quality of life.
Innovation Meets Compassion
Behind every new service are the people who make it possible. At NVS, Dr. Christian Stocks, a board-certified radiation oncologist, leads the program with deep technical expertise and a focus on compassionate, individualized care. His team works closely with medical oncologists, surgeons, and internal medicine specialists to design treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
At Port City, that same dedication to patient-centered, collaborative care defines the hospital’s expanding oncology services. The new Radiation Oncology program, led by board-certified radiation oncologist Dr. Maegan Watson-Skaggs (Dr. Watson), works with Medical Oncologist Dr. Megan Duckett to create comprehensive, coordinated treatment plans for pets across the region. Dr. Watson said, “Our goal is not just to treat disease, but to give pets more good days with the people who love them, radiation therapy, combined with our collaborative approach to oncology, helps us create treatment plans that prioritize both medical success and quality of life.”
Both of these integrated approaches exemplify the Ethos mission to deliver excellence in medicine while never losing sight of the empathy and connection that defines veterinary care.
Strengthening the Network of Care
Ethos hospitals share more than technology; they share knowledge. Through continuing education (CE) programs, clinical collaboration, and outreach to referring veterinarians, Ethos specialists are helping to elevate the standard of care across the broader veterinary community.
Events like the NVS Huntsville CE Symposium and Port City’s upcoming oncology-focused education initiatives give general practitioners hands-on learning opportunities and foster a stronger, more connected network of veterinary professionals. This culture of collaboration ensures that pets benefit from the expertise of an entire community dedicated to their wellbeing. Now pet owners across New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, and beyond have local on-site access to both Radiation and Medical Oncology without the need for extensive travel.
This milestone reinforces NVS & Port City’s mission to combine innovation, collaboration, and compassion in the fight against cancer and complex diseases.
A Shared Mission of Hope
The expansion of Radiation Oncology services at Port City and NVS represents more than an investment in equipment, it’s an investment in hope. By combining innovation, education, and compassion, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in pet cancer care.
As the veterinary community observes Cancer Awareness Month, Ethos celebrates the teams working tirelessly to give pets more tomorrows. Every advancement, every collaboration, and every recovery story brings us closer to a future where cancer care for animals is more accessible, effective, and full of hope.
