Veterinary Student Externship Program
Welcome to the Ethos Veterinary Health veterinary student externship programs. This page provides some general information about our hospitals, externships and breadth of offerings. Depending on your location, you may choose to do an externship for credit, or take the opportunity to meet doctors and check out our culture. We welcome your visit, and are enthusiastic about helping you maximize your learning opportunities.

General Information
Externs will actively participate in daily hospital rounds and case discussions. We want to hear your thoughts and questions about cases, and appreciate the perspective you will bring. You will also have opportunities to observe outpatient receiving, emergency case management, hospital treatments, surgery, diagnostic procedures and client communications. Because the program is intended to be more observational than hands-on, you will not be performing surgery, receiving patients or having primary responsibility for treatments, although you will assist in these and many other activities, depending on your experience and the rotation.
Resources
As part of your externship experience, you will be able to access our online learning management system, VetBloom, which includes a comprehensive library of journals, among other resources. Most hospitals will have an on-site library of textbooks as well. We strongly encourage you to research cases so that you can participate in discussions and thus maximize your learning opportunity.
