Advancing Veterinary Diagnostics Through PET/CT Imaging
January 23, 2026Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is revolutionizing veterinary care with its new PET/CT scanner, a technology that not only reveals what’s happening in the body but also how the body is functioning at a cellular level. By combining traditional CT imaging with nuclear medicine, the scanner highlights areas of high metabolic activity, such as tumors, inflamed tissue, or vital organs, allowing the team to detect cancer earlier, monitor treatment responses, and make more precise and targeted care decisions.
PET/CT imaging will be part of RBVH’s advanced diagnostic capabilities across multiple specialties. Following specialized training, clinical teams have begun using the scanner clinically to guide patient care.
While oncology will be the primary specialty to use PET/CT, internal medicine, surgery, and neurology are also exploring its potential for complex and undiagnosed cases. By incorporating metabolic insights into structural imaging, RBVH can better assess the aggressiveness of lesions and track the biologically active nature of disease over time.
RBVH is currently the only private practice in the nation to offer this advanced PET/CT technology. This capability reflects a continued investment in advanced diagnostics and specialty care, expanding the tools available to veterinary clinicians across disciplines.
