Dr. Ryan Cohen grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. His interest in veterinary medicine started early, and he started working in a small animal practice owned by a family friend since the age of 13. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science at the University of Arizona (Go Wildcats!). He then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University where he graduated in 2015. It was there that he met his now wife and started their adventure together. They have traveled all across the country with their 4 dogs living in Colorado, Arizona, Tennessee and now landing here in San Diego!
Dr. Cohen developed a passion for emergency medicine shortly after graduating. He loves the spontaneity of the emergency room. More specifically, he enjoys connecting with pet parents in emergent situations, helping them deal with both the medical situation at hand as well as alleviating their anxiety as much as possible by being the calm one in the room. Additionally he enjoys emergency surgery.
In his free time he enjoys spending time doing ANYTHING outdoors (hiking, kayaking, walking the dogs) with his wife Linda. He loves being active and adventurous. He likes to travel, cook, and try new restaurants. He recently acquired a brewing set and plans to start home brewing in his free time.
He is excited to be a part of the VSH team working with all of their amazing doctors, nurses and support staff!
