Michael Metzger

Michael Metzger joined Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital as Hospital Director in 2023. Prior to joining Port City, Michael worked for almost six years in animal health pharmaceuticals and distribution with Covetrus. As Senior Director for Global Operational Excellence and PMO, Michael was responsible for delivering some of the company’s most ambitious and critical operations projects and improvement initiatives. Previously, he was responsible for managing the growth of Covetrus’s U.S. compounding and commercial pharmacy networks, as well as operational data analytics. Before Covetrus, Michael worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense on large-scale business transformation initiatives and as a business consultant for various organizations around the world. Michael has lived overseas in Jordan and China.

Michael is an open and transparent leader, believes strongly in data-driven decision making, and knows that teams can achieve amazing results when they work collaboratively together.

Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from Bates College after growing up in Massachusetts. He currently lives in Maine with his wife, Meghan, daughter, Rose, and their tuxedo cat. When not at the hospital, Michael enjoys cooking, woodworking, reading, travel, and canoeing.
