Dr. Martin grew up in Delaware in a family that loved animals. From an early age, she assisted her biologist mother with raising and releasing orphaned wildlife. She began working in the veterinary field when she was young and never quite left. At the University of Delaware, she graduated with a pre-veterinary degree with a wildlife conservation minor. She spent a winter session in Tanzania, Africa in a study abroad program. She attended veterinary school in Athens, Georgia and has practiced small animal and exotic medicine in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She became certified in rehabilitation medicine from the University of Tennessee in 2017. She has taken the step to move to Chicago to further her skills in rehabilitation and to add acupuncture, becoming certified in May 2019, and chiropractic medicine to her repertoire. She has special interest in geriatric and feline cases. She lives with her husband, four dogs, three cats, and a flock of backyard hens.
